Parks West Dental Centre is located inside of Parks West Mall on the west side of Hinton, AB. Our address is 900 Carmichael Lane #405 and we are located near Safeway inside of the mall.

Please bring your insurance card, and your reading glasses, if you require them.  We often have paper work that will require your corporation, such as consent forms, or updating your personal information.

A dental exam is conducted to evaluate the oral health of our patients. The dental exam is broken into two parts:

Exam:

The exam consists of the the dentists examining each tooth and the gums for decay, damage, or disease. In some cases x-rays will be required to better view the structure of the jaw and teeth.

Cleaning:

The cleaning phase of a checkup and cleaning consists of removing tartar from the teeth, which builds up over time. The dental hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from the areas in the patients mouth that cannot be reached with at home brushing and flossing. This process is key to preventing future oral health issues.

A filling is the process of restoring a tooth from a decaying or damaged state to a healthy state. The process consists of removing the decay form the tooth and applying restorative material(s) to the tooth to prevent future health issues.

A root canal is a treatment required when the nerve tissue of a tooth is damaged or diseased. The root canal procedure is the process of removing this damaged nerve tissue and repairing the tooth.

A crown is a cap for a tooth to protect it from further damage and can help protect the tooth after a major treatment such as fillings and root canals.

Sports guards are specialized mouth guards that are recommended for most individuals that play sports, especially contact sports. The sports guards are custom molded to the patient’s bite  and protect the teeth from injury as well as help prevent concussions.

Dental x-rays are necessary to help the dentist see potential disease or health issues that cannot be seen form inside of the mouth during an exam.

The frequency of the dental x-rays is dependent on the oral health of the patient. Most patients that have good oral health do not require to have dental x-rays taken at each visit.

According to the Canadian Dental Association, a person should brush their teeth twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night.

Flossing removes the plaque build-up in between teeth. If this plaque is not removed, it will eventually harden and turn into tartar, which can only be removed by a dentist’s office.

It is recommended to floss once a day.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral in many food as well as water. Fluoride is important to oral health, as it is proven to prevent tooth decay by making the enamel on teeth more resistant to to bacteria in the mouth.

It is recommended that a child sees a dentist for the first time within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth, or by year one. It is important that your child sees a dentist that specializes in pediatric dentistry, such as Parks West Dental Centre

Just like adults, children should brush their teeth twice a day.

Flossing should begin once the child has two teeth that touch together. This is usually around the ages 2 to 3. If you are unsure, consult your pediatric dentist, and always floss under their direction.

Yes we do, whether it is an employee benefit plan or a personal plan, we accept all forms of insurance and will directly bill your insurance company.  Please note: Dental Offices are private businesses, and therefore, are not covered under your Provincial Health Care plan, such as Alberta Health Care.

Yes Parks West Dental Centre will directly bill your insurance company on the date of your appointment.  We will also send off preauthorization’s for treatment upon your request.  Sometimes these requests, have to go through the mail, and processing times, can take up to 4 weeks.  Do not be alarmed though, this is quite normal.
